Final Film Opening

Student film Evaluations

Today we watched a series of openings that students had done in previous years, we were also told about the levels that we can achieve with our film openings. Then when we were shown the film openings and we were told to give them a mark and a level and say what we liked and did not like about them.
This is what mark is needed to achieve a certain level:

  • Level 1: 0-23 marks
  • Level 2: 24-35 marks
  • Level 3: 36-47 marks
  • Level 4: 48-60 marks

Below is a list of the openings that we watched and next to them i have given them a grade and said what i thought was good or bad:

Roses are Red - 40 (Level 3)
titles were very creative
the music was not very appealing and got a little bit boring
the genre was not clear as the ending was confusing

Gemini - 45 (Level 3)
genre was clearly a thriller
the actors did not look old enough which made it confusing
i was confused at who the film would be aimed at (target audience)

My Mother & I - 28 (Level 2)
i found it very confusing and i did not know who the characters were supposed to be
very short and not much of a storyline
not too sure about the genre if it was a horror or thriller

The Edge - 55 (Level 4)
the music was fitting well with the genre and the acting
looked very professional and the titles were very advanced
has actors of a different age which made it seem more realistic
